Earth Hour 2008

By Susan Ellis of Key Life Journeys

This morning, this is the scene I look out on through the window of my workroom as I sit at my computer. Already I have been visited by my cardinal couple and other birds. I've seen squirrels tight rope walking along the telephone wire and no doubt soon will watch the neighbour's cats gingerly making paths to get home to rest. The snow covered bicycles add some colour. I stand them on the lawn in winter, moving them from their summer home in the dahlia bed. But now everything is very still, waiting, as if holding its natural breath. Is nature watching me, wondering what I will do? What ever I can do - will it be enough? Actually that is a silly question. I am here aren't I? Therefore I have influence. I am a vibrating source of energy. My energy is constantly radiating out of me. My unique waves join the communal field of change. Even my intending thoughts move out of me and change all they touch for ever.

Think of the implications if everyone on earth at 8pm on Saturday 29th March 2008 stopped using electricity for one hour. At the same time thinking about being part of the common will to use sustainable energy. Energy that in its creation and use does not pollute, deplete or destroy the earth.

Each of us can make a difference. We are all responsible for this version of reality we have created. By turning out the light on 28th March we can confirm our connection to the whole.

Here are a couple of YouTube videos talking about Earth Hour 2008.
